The advantages of silicone in medical usage
Products used in medical environments are sterilized before patient contact, so that they are free of germs and bacteria to the greatest possible extent. Despite this additional sterilization process, the production of the syringe plungers and the overall system must already be realized under microbiologically "clean" conditions, in accordance with the GMP guidelines.
In order to keep the number of microorganisms in the final product as low as possible, the manufacturing of the individual components, the interim transport, the interim storage, as well as the final assembly process of the injection and infusion systems, all take place under controlled clean room conditions in accordance with ISO 14644 Class 7.
