We are almost limitless regarding what we can achieve Alexander Hübner

Hey Alex, tell us a little about yourself!

My name is Alexander Huebner, I’m 29 years old, and I live in Stammbach – together with my girlfriend and our two cats. In my spare time, you’ll often find me on the soccer pitch (not as a spectator ;) ). Here, at RAUMEDIC, I’m a Project Manager in Product Development.

What exactly is it that you do as a Project Manager Product Development?

I work under our CTO, and I’m mainly responsible for major projects. I also support ongoing projects, mostly in the early stages, or in extreme phases, and pass on my knowledge and my experience in project management to colleagues. The same goes for my expertise in processes and procedures in product development at RAUMEDIC.

What does a typical working day look like for you?

Over the last couple of months, I’ve almost exclusively worked on a specific customer project. I took over the project in October 2021 and worked together with around 25 colleagues from all departments in different stages of the project. My working day usually begins at roughly 7 AM. This way, I have an hour to myself, and can answer emails and prepare for meetings. Basically, something unexpected happens almost every day, so I must adapt and improvise. It could be anything, ranging from an escalating meeting with a customer to a problem in production. Yet, this mixture of the plannable and the unplannable is appealing to me.

What were some notable challenges during this project, and how did you solve them?

For the customer, outsourcing was an absolute novelty. In the beginning, it wasn’t clear what information we needed, or how it would be provided to us. Also, we worked with a new team on the customer side, so lots of time-consuming consultations were necessary. All of this made our already tight timeline even more challenging. But, considering the project’s scope, we finished it very quickly.

What is your number one learning from this project?

It’s not like I didn’t know it beforehand, but it’s something I once again realized during the project: we simply have fantastic people and great team structures at RAUMEDIC. If we are provided with the resources to deeply dive into an issue, we are almost limitless regarding what we can achieve. That makes me proud – and it binds us all together.

What do you find particularly exciting about Raumedic?

The team spirit! The project was very challenging, and the team had to put in some extra hours, but we all supported each other! We all had a common priority that extended beyond our team, so everyone pitched in when needed. I personally love not having to sit at a desk the entire day, but like being able to check, test, and review all the small steps in the process of a project myself. This also helps me attain an understanding that will help me with future projects and developments.
