Raumedic donates prize money from bicycle racing event

Helmbrechts / Münchberg — The medical-technology producer Raumedic demonstrated its commitment to good health and social responsibility once again on July 3, when the company presented the day-care center Evangelische Kindertagesstätte Münchberg with a €500 check. Employees of the Helmbrecht-based polymer specialist earned some of the donated funds in a bicycle race.

On May 21, Raumedic fielded one of the biggest teams at the ninth Lamilux-CI-Classics, one of the largest bike races in the Upper Franconian region of northern Bavaria. The participants won €100 for their efforts and the company then boosted the total to €500 for the purpose of helping a social institution.

“The request by the day-care center came at exactly the right time,” marketing employee Tina Lück said while presenting the check to Judith Gebelein. Gebelein, who chairs the parental council at the day-care center, had sent a letter to the company in which she sought funds to buy new furniture for the facility. “After 10 years, the time has come to upgrade our equipment,” said Birgit Endreß, the head of the day-care center, in describing the situation at the facility located on Humboldt Street in Münchberg. The use of modern room dividers and a climbing frame will help children play in small groups. The center needs about €10,000 overall, Endreß said. “Raumedic's support is an important milestone in our fund-raising drive.”
