Mills River, NC – RAUMEDIC will be presenting the latest developments in medical extrusion, molding and assembly at the MDM West show in Anaheim. Experts will be on hand to review these developments and invite visitors to learn more and share their challenges at Booth #1828.
Liquid Injection Molding (LIM) Pump Segments
LIM pump Segments are very commonly used in enteral nutrition or pain management. This applies to devices used in both hospital as well as homecare settings. High dosage accuracy represents an important criterion in medical engineering so these tubing and molded parts must fulfill tightest tolerances. “Silicone Intelligence Inside – made by RAUMEDIC” enables a direct integration of functions. Connectors, fixing elements as well as pressure sensors and bubble detection areas can be integrated without any additional parts or further steps. A combination of silicone and thermoplastic parts in one system is also possible.
Single use ophthalmology sets
RAUMEDIC will present its vast experience in single use solutions in the field of ophthalmology - for example refractive or retina eye surgeries. Thanks to the company’s material and design expertise, they are able to help clients find the best solution for their application and the patient’s eye, with consideration of the high regulatory and cleanliness requirements. Tubing sets consist of several components, molded parts and tubes, filters and/or drip chambers – all part of RAUMEDIC’s core competence.
The ophthalmology products are developed and produced tailor-made. They support ophthalmology operative devices for different functional purposes, ranging from liquid regulation via aspiration processes to casing systems. As an OEM supplier, RAUMEDIC delivers finished sterile products customized with labels, and support their clients in achieving excellent clinical results.
RAUMEDIC Tubing from PTFE Moldflon™
RAUMEDIC produces tubing extruded from PTFE Moldflon. This is a special type of thermoplastic material that in contrast to regular PTFE can be processed from the melt – a major advantage in terms of economy and processability for PTFE.
Unlike traditional PTFE that is processed from a batch ram extrusion process, PTFE Moldflon is processed continuously on a single screw melt extruder. This is highly advantageous for long continuous tubing production runs and for PTFE with co-extruded radiopaque stripes.
PTFE Moldflon is a biocompatible thermoplastic with very similar physical properties to traditional PTFE such as continuous service temperature, coefficient of friction, tensile strength and dielectric constant. In addition, further testing has also been performed to realize its benefits for secondary thermo forming operations such as tipping and flaring.
The RAUMEDIC US development center and production facility is officially operational
Over the past year, a great deal of excavation, building, bolting and installation work has been done far away from the German RAUMEDIC headquarters. A state-of-the-art medical technology plant has been built in Mills River, nestled at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains in North Carolina. The first RAUMEDIC plant in the USA is officially open!
The technical installations were completed in December, first injection molding machines were connected to the grid, one after the other, to be followed now by extrusion lines to produce medical-grade tubing and layflat film. Qualification processes are currently being performed for the machines and preparations are currently underway for certification in accordance with ISO 13485. The employees have started their jobs in the new office, and the sales team formerly based in Leesburg, VA has relocated to Mills River.
