Job Description

  • Ability to design extrusion Tooling from customer drawings/specifications
  • Produce quality complex thermoplastic extrusion prototypes (multi lumen, multilayer, co-extrusions, thin wall reinforced) 
  • Train extrusion operators
  • Troubleshoot and provide root cause solutions for difficult extrusions
  • Responsible for managing day-to-day Extrusion production and core functions of Production in order to achieve and maintain operational excellence
  • Establish and communicate RAUMEDIC objectives and assignments
  • Lead and support Shift Supervisors and Lead Technicians 24/7 to ensure consistent operations 
  • Responsible for production figures with respect to labor costs, machine output, quality, material and reporting of those figures
  • Support site COO / Operations Manager as needed
  • Responsibility for strict observance of legal rules and regulations referring to work safety and adherence of working time
  • Responsible for investment planning and investment requests for supporting divisions of Production/ Plant related items
     

Job Requirements

  • Ability to produce quality prototype extrusions
  • Ability to develop quality extrusion tooling from customer drawings/specifications
  • ISO 13485 knowledge and application
  • Lead production meeting every morning with Gemba walk of Extrusion.
  • Update production boards in each clean room of priorities and work to be complete in the next 24 hours
  • Daily walk through of both production floors looking for cleanliness, potential safety issues, build rapport and motivate Operators, Supervisors/Lead Techs
  • Maintain and update tooling prep list with priorities to ensure tools are ready as needed
  • Coordination and communication of our production schedule every morning
  • Review operator workload and send daily email setting priorities as we have more work than labor allows
  • Review, accept, sign off on all new customer orders and add to the production schedule
  • Review and coordination with purchasing and Logistics of all raw materials and packaging supplies
  • Work closely with Central Customer Service to support customers in any way needed
  • Work closely with material suppliers discussing material forecasts, price increases and negotiating said increases where possible
  • Forward any material increase in spread sheet format with any material cost increases with current cost for COO requoting to customer
  • Maintain open communication with the day shift Supervisor/Lead to maintain priorities are being followed and issues taken care of as they arise
  • Once per week prepare sales goal for the month based on actual to date sales and expected sales to month end
  • Once per week prepare press utilization expectation for the upcoming week
  • By-weekly hourly time and attendance approval for payroll (SAP), including vacation time approval
  • Work with RAUMEDIC finance teams when issues arise with receivables
  • Active member of the Workplace Safety Committee
  • Yearly review of employee’s performance reporting to HR and COO
  • Responsible for assisting in identifying training needs for employees
  • Work with Staff, Operations and other departments on LEAN / Continuous Improvement activities to improve processes/ reduce costs
  • Work with engineering on new projects under consideration of plant interests
  • Develop KPI’s, goals and scorecards for departments


Additonal duties as required or assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business management or related field of study
  • Five to 10 years experience in a discipline managing a medical manufacturing department or managing in a related field
  • The ability to work flexibly, oftentimes working non-standard hours
